Course Summary

In this course, we will explore the value of incorporating physical therapy in the ED. We will discuss the costs associated with caring for fall-related injuries and the benefits of building a falls protocol, and early PT consult. We will help you better understand the concept of value-based care and the positive impacts of PT services in the ED.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the cost associated with fall-related care and outcomes
  2. Analyze literature on outcomes related to fall interventions and specifically physical therapy
  3. Utilize quality improvement strategies to address complex issue of falls in the ED
