GEAR Consensus Conference Summary

A success for geriatric emergency care research

The GEAR Task Force is developing consensus papers and an overall research map for GEAR and for GEM researchers in general. On October 25, 2019 the GEAR team held the GEAR Consensus Conference in Denver, CO.

The conference which comprised five mini-conferences, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including emergency department physicians, geriatricians, pharmacists, nurses, medical students and fellows, social workers, educators, and caregivers.

The group discussed ranked questions focused on Populations, Interventions, Comparisons, and Outcomes (PICO questions) in five sub-domains of geriatric emergency care–cognitive impairment, medication safety, elder abuse, falls, and care transitions.

For a full summary of which questions received priority based on conference outcomes, download the full conference summary by clicking the link at the top of the page, or following this link.
