As hospitals across the country begin to respond to the new CMS rules on reporting age-friendly hospitals, North Carolina’s hospital systems prove that integrating changes doesn’t necessarily mean adding extra burden, but rather incorporating new services and enhancing previous services can fit into existing systems. The hope is that the many ways in which hospitals already work to improve age-friendly services, as highlighted in this article, can be expanded further as support for age-friendly services will be greater following the implementation of the measure.
Three GEDC member hospitals – UNC Hillsborough, Wake Med, and Duke University – are spotlighted in a recent article from local news hub, Triangle News. They share what they’ve already done and what they plan to do in the future to become more age-friendly and continue their geriatric quality improvements.
