Community paramedics can play an important role in assessing older adult patients before they reach the emergency department and serve as valuable members of the multidisciplinary teams that treat older adult patients. Because they enter a patient’s home, paramedics are able to make critical observations about a patient’s living conditions, support network and medications. These observations can inform patient care plans.
