The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative is pleased to announce that GEDC Core Faculty Member, Aaron Malsch, RN, MSN, GCNS-BC, will join the GEDC team full-time as Program Director. Malsch has started his position as of May 20, 2024.
“As a Core Faculty Member, Aaron has already proven to be a valuable asset to the GEDC team,” said GEDC Co-PI Kevin Biese, MD. “We admire his devotion to evolving the standard of emergency department care for older adults and look forward to his expertise in nursing and interprofessional practice as Program Director. He will be instrumental in our collaborative’s continued growth.”
Previously, Malsch was Senior Services Program Manager for Advocate Health-Midwest in Wisconsin and Illinois, where he supported geriatric models of care including NICHE, Geri ED, HELP, ACE Tracker, and Geriatric Scholars. Malsch also managed the system’s implementation and accreditation for the Geriatric Emergency Department Program in 25 emergency departments across two states. He also contributed to research supporting improvement the emergency department experience and outcomes for older adults.
In his new role as GEDC Program Director, Malsch will develop, manage and lead the GEDC coordinating center, as well as implement and execute projects that contribute to GEDC’s efforts to transform, catalyze and evaluate best practices in geriatric emergency care.
“Contributing to GEDC has been a highlight of my career, and I’m excited to work more closely with the team to further our mission to optimize emergency department visits for older adults,” Malsch said. “GEDC has already contributed to so much positive change in this area, and there’s even more potential to grow as we move forward.”
