The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) has named Christina Shenvi, MD, PhD, MBA, FACEP, the 2026 recipient of the Judith E. Tintinalli Award for Outstanding Contribution in Education. The award was presented during ACEP26, the Annual Scientific Assembly in Chicago, October 5–8.

Honoring a Mentor’s Legacy

Each year, this award is one of the specialty’s top honors. It recognizes educators who have advanced emergency medicine through teaching, curriculum development, and scholarship. The award is named for Dr. Judith Tintinalli, founding chair of the UNC Department of Emergency Medicine and a personal mentor to Dr. Shenvi.

“Dr. Judith Tintinalli has never lost her sense of awe, wonder, and curiosity about medicine,” Dr. Shenvi said. “Decades into a career that shaped our specialty, she still asks questions like someone seeing emergency medicine for the first time. That curiosity has been one of the most important lessons of my career.”

– Dr. Christina Shenvi

Dr. Shenvi will carry that work forward as a senior editor of the upcoming 10th edition of Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine, the specialty’s most widely used textbook.
