Course Description
This module covers the underrecognized but critical topic of elder abuse in the ED. Participants will learn how to differentiate types of abuse, recognize red flags obscured by physiologic aging, and engage in sensitive but effective assessment. Emphasis is placed on the ED’s role in early intervention and multidisciplinary collaboration to protect at-risk older adults.

- Identify the various types and signs of elder abuse, including self-neglect.
- Understand key barriers to recognition and reporting in the ED setting.
- Apply effective screening and documentation strategies to support vulnerable patients.
