Course Description

This module trains learners to systematically assess and manage delirium using the ADEPT model. Emphasizing that inattention is the hallmark feature, it guides users through identifying risk factors, deploying screening tools, and initiating timely interventions. The session reinforces that treating underlying causes—not just symptoms—is central to effective delirium management in older adults.

Learning Objectives
  1. Apply the ADEPT framework (Assess, Diagnose, Evaluate, Prevent, Treat) in managing delirium.
  2. Target likely causes and prioritize non-pharmacologic and goal-aligned treatment strategies.

Run Time: ~20 minutes

Target Audience: Emergency Department Clinical Staff

These courses were developed for the Syllabus for Advancing Geriatric EM Education (SAGE). They’re designed to help medical residents better understand how to manage geriatric patients in the ED.
