The GEDC Skills Fair – Making the Case

In this course, we will explore the value of incorporating physical therapy in the ED. We will discuss the costs associated with caring for fall-related injuries and the benefits of building a falls protocol, and early PT consult. We will help you better understand the concept of value-based care and the positive impacts of PT services in the ED.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, ED care providers will be able to:

  • Describe the cost associated with fall-related care and outcomes.
  • Analyze literature on outcomes related to fall interventions and specifically physical therapy.
  • Utilize quality improvement strategies to address complex issue of falls in the ED.
