Critical Topics in Elder Mistreatment: Module 1

In this module, we work through the case of Mr. Smith, an older adult who has fallen – a familiar situation on nearly every ED shift. This module will help you think critically about assessing his injuries and planning for safe discharge.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, ED care providers will be able to:

  • Identify indicators that a fall-related injury may have been caused by mistreatment
  • Provide examples of medication-related elder mistreatment

Attendance at this course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
