Falls – Screening, Assessment, and Intervention

STRIDE: Strategies to Reduce Injuries and Develop Confidence in Elders Study (2017-2019)

STRIDE is a multi-site cluster randomized clinical trial (cRCT) comparing the effectiveness of an evidence-based, multifactorial, individually-tailored intervention versus enhanced usual care in reducing serious fall injuries among 5451 at-risk, non-institutionalized, older persons age 70 and above who have met any of these 3 criteria:

1. They have fallen and hurt themselves at least once in the past year

2. They have fallen at least twice with or without injuries.

3. They are afraid that they will fall because of balance or walking problems

Includes 10 clinical trial sites and 86 primary care practice sites in the United States.  Enrollment was concluded in March 2017 and the results of the study will be available in late 2019.
