Screening ED Falls Patients using STEADI

A few ways to screen patients in the ED for falls have been proposed. The STEADI or Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries from the CDC recommends asking all patients over age 65 these 3 questions:

1. Have you fallen in the past year?

  • How many times?
  • Were you injured?

2. Do you feel unsteady when standing or walking?

3. Do you worry about falling?
