KEY CONCEPT

Normal aging can be difficult to distinguish from long-standing diseases that worsen as we age, such as atherosclerosis or benign prostatic hypertrophy.

Falls are NOT a normal part of aging, but their frequency increases as we age due to several risk factors that we will discuss.
