# UAB Uses Education to Improve Care

About This Event

The BRAIN Project brings together the Alzheimer's Association and the Geriatric ED Collaborative (GEDC) with the support of the West Health Institute. Its goal is to identify high-performing hospitals, understand how their models work, and translate those lessons into practical tools for other health systems to adopt. To begin the process, the BRAIN team hosts Best Practice Accelerator Community (BPAC) sessions, in which select sites share and discuss successful delirium interventions.

Watch the UAB BPAC

UAB presented their incredible work at the second Best Practice Accelerator Community (BPAC) session. Bringing together a number of health systems, the session highlighted how consistent 4Ms education can foster an age-friendly culture — one that sustains a cycle of continuous improvement in care.

The BRAIN Project

Creating Dementia and Delirium Friendly Hospitals

This event has been made possible by the BRAIN (Brain-Healthy Care for Acute and Inpatient Environments) Project — an initiative designed to help health systems directly address the challenge of cognitive impairment.

BRAIN connects leading hospitals to explore interventions for dementia and delirium in ED and inpatient settings. Participating sites share successful approaches, formalizing what works best for broader adoption.

From there, other health systems are equipped to transform care, turning what is already known into what is widely practiced.
